Melissa Clark-Reynolds, ONZM, is prominent in New Zealand’s entrepreneurial landscape. She is known for her strategic thinking and foresight in the technology sector. She was born on July 25, 1964. She began her academic journey at a young age, becoming the youngest woman to attend a university in New Zealand. She pursued a BA in Anthropology at Victoria University of Wellington. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Health, Waste Management, and Epidemiology from Rutgers University in the United States.

Clark-Reynolds’ entrepreneurial career began with GMV Associates, a health and safety and workers’ compensation insurance consultancy, which she later sold to Southern Cross, transforming it into Fusion, New Zealand’s largest private workers’ compensation insurer. In 2009, she launched an environmentally-themed virtual world called MiniMonos, an online space for children that emphasised fun and environmental values. Despite its closure in 2013, MiniMonos attracted close to a million players and significant capital, highlighting Clark-Reynolds’ innovative approach to business and technology.

In 2013, Clark-Reynolds transitioned to a role as a professional director and has since contributed her expertise to various organisations, including Wētā Workshop, the Hillary Institute, Birthright New Zealand, Jasmax Architects, Atkins Ranch, Alpine Energy, Daffodil Enterprises Ltd., the NZ Future Bees Trust, Little Yellow Bird, Radio New Zealand, and Beef+Lamb New Zealand. Her specialisation in foresight approaches is backed by training at prestigious institutions like MIT, Cambridge University, Stanford University, and the Institute for the Future.

Melissa Clark-Reynolds is also a course leader in strategy, disruption, and digital innovation for the New Zealand Institute of Directors. She is passionate about making an impact at scale and enjoys working with teams facing uncertain futures in complex times. Her interests include beekeeping, gardening, and swimming, showcasing her connection to nature and well-being. She lives in New Zealand with her partner Mike, two children, and two grandchildren, continuing her commitment to personal and professional growth.
