Halter makes solar-powered GPS collars for dairy cows. The collar uses sound and vibration cues to guide cows to and from the milking shed, shift them between paddocks, and keep them out of waterways — replacing physical fences and the labour of mustering.

Founded by Craig Piggott and Max Olson, Halter has raised over NZ$200 million and deployed on hundreds of New Zealand dairy farms. The company represents the largest agritech venture investment in New Zealand's history.

Why Noteworthy

Halter is the proof case that New Zealand can build venture-scale technology companies in its core industry. A quarter-billion dollars in funding, real farms using the product daily, and a technology that could redefine pastoral farming globally.
