Simplicity
Simplicity is the not-for-profit KiwiSaver provider Sam Stubbs built to prove low fees and long-term thinking could outperform the industry, now managing over $11 billion.
Simplicity is a not-for-profit KiwiSaver and fund manager founded by Sam Stubbs in 2016. Its premise is that most New Zealanders pay too much in fund management fees for returns a low-cost index fund can match. Simplicity charges some of the lowest fees in the market and gives 15 per cent of its management fees to charity.
The fund now manages more than $11 billion on behalf of more than 190,000 members, making it one of the largest KiwiSaver providers in the country. It was appointed as a default KiwiSaver provider by the government.
Why Noteworthy
Simplicity proved that a not-for-profit model could compete with the banks and fund managers on performance while charging a fraction of the price. Stubbs built it as a direct challenge to an industry he spent decades inside.
